Despite being pressured into boxing as a kid by his father, Michael Bentt became one of the most accomplished American amateur boxers in history. He went on to become the WBO World Boxing Champion in 1993 after knocking out Tommy Morrison in the 1st round.
In his very next fight he lost his title to Herbie Hide by brutal KO. His life as a prizefighter ended that night & it almost cost him his life. According to Mr. Bentt, it was also one of the best things that happened to him. He was relieved that he no longer had to pursue the career that he never wanted in the first place.
